Who are we?
The Emergency Unit which is part of the Strategy, Programme and Results Department in HQ is responsible for leading DRC’s approach to emergency preparedness and response, through strategy, policies and emergency focused support. The Unit’s goal is to ensure that the organization is prepared to provide timely, relevant, principled and quality assistance at scale during an acute crisis. The Emergency unit will also facilitate the transition from immediate life-saving support for affected populations in emergencies to long-term solutions in coordination with relevant departments, which is core to DRC's response framework and transition affected populations from emergency contexts along DRC’s response framework.
About the job
The Student Assistant will strengthen and support the implementation of DRC’s emergency response through providing support to Unit colleagues in administering and coordinating the deployments of surge staff and supporting in the allocations of emergency funding to DRC’s emergency operations, as well as to various aspects of emergency unit task administration.
- Support in the coordination of DRC's emergency response team (EMPACT), including confirming deployments, offering administrative support to EMPACT, and calculating and allocating salary costs.
- Provide advice and support in grants matters to countries receiving GERF (Global Emergency Response Fund).
- Work with team members to ensure the Internal information pages and external website are regularly updated.
- Support with the planning of DRC’s Emergency Capacity building initiatives
- Consolidate reporting for all Global Emergency Response Fund (GERF) grants
- Other adhoc administrative and tasks as agreed with the Head of Unit.
About you
To be successful in this role we expect you to have the following experience and skills:
Required:
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken
- Have completed minimum two years of higher education
- Be enlisted at a university for a relevant education
- Strong IT skills including strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Desirable:
- Experience with or knowledge of international displacement and humanitarian work.

We offer
Contract length: Permanent (subject to being enrolled in a study program)
Working hours: 15-20 hours per week subject to further discussion
Work place: Copenhagen, Denmark
Start date: Flexible, but earliest possible preferred
Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the agreement between DRC and HK. This is a national position for which local terms and conditions apply. Employment as a student assistant is contingent on enrollment in an academic institution
