The overall purpose of the role:
Provide additional technical support required to maintain a standard level of service to the office and be the main point of contact for IT-related issues in the DRC Kenya Eastleigh field office in Nairobi for 6 months. The role will be responsible for planning, development, and implementation of hardware, software applications, programming & systems network and integration of a management information system or enterprise network in coordination and consultation with the DRC Information Management Systems Coordinator.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Install and configure computer hardware, authorized software, systems, networks, printers, and scanners.
- Liaise with the Country IMS Coordinator regarding issues/faults promptly.
- Offer technical support to all end users of hardware & software issues.
- Ensure that company data is safely backed up to OneDrive and SharePoint.
- Support conducting digital skills training for the youths at the DRC Eastleigh digital workspace and provide weekly reports on the training.
- Daily monitoring of servers to for optimal performance,100% uptime, and availability of systems.
- Maintain, improve, and ensure healthy back-ups of beneficiaries’ databases.
- Generate monthly systems usage reports.
- Oversee software and network security.
- Undertake simple development tasks on the Information Management Systems as assigned from time to time.
- Continually perform preventative maintenance.
Experience and technical competencies:
- At least 1 Year Experience in fast paced organization.
- Have HTML, PHP-MVC, JS and CSS coding background.
- Knowledge of CodeIgniter framework will be an added advantage.
- Basic understanding of relationship database including MySQL.
- Basic understanding of Linux (Ubuntu) and Windows 10 support.
- Knowledge of and competence in Microsoft operating systems and Microsoft 365.
- Attention to detail with an excellent analytic and research background.
- Cheerful, articulate, positive attitude and eager to learn.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Information Technology or other related field from a recognized institution
- Certification in computer networks (CCNA, N+, etc)
Languages:
- Fluency in English and Kiswahili.

Conditions:
Contract duration: 6 months with possibility of a 3-month extension subject to funding availability and performance. Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the Danish Refugee Council Internship Guidelines.
Reporting to: Urban Project Manager with technical reporting line to Information Management Systems Coordinator
