DRC is currently looking for a highly-qualified Safety Assistant to join our team in Mykolaiv.
About the job
As s Safety Assistant, you will provide technical support to the safety team, field office and program teams on all DRC safety policies, procedure and planning standards. You will report directly to Safety Team Leader.You will maintain relevant safety documentation, data, and records (staff presence lists, training register, incident tracking, maps, etc.).
Your main duties and responsibilities will be:
- Deliver briefings and context updates to the Safety Team.
- Assess potential impacts of the evolving context on DRCs programmatic activities.
- Deliver Pre/Post Arrival Briefs to incoming staff (national and international).
- Support in the management of the DRC safety information portal (SharePoint) ensuring that it is up to date, relevant and accessible to a range of users.
- Provide technical support to the safety team, ability to maintain and support all normal working process for DRC South Area Office.
- Make purchases related to the security department for the office premises, guest houses, safety needs of field teams and the vehicle fleet of the entire of Area office, including the HDP department.
- Provide timely inspection, proper preservation and storage.
- Act as the focal point for the procurement of all necessary safety-related equipment, facilities and other resources.
- Provide technical support of all DRC safety equipment/communication equipment/safety documentation, review and update all safety documentation, database, trackers, lists related to safety department in DRC South Area Office.
About you
To be successful in this role we expect you to have at least 1 year of experience in safety, security or related areas, preferably in INGO.
We also expect the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety or any other related field.
- Proven ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines under pressure.
- Proficiency with Digital literacy: MS Office applications, including high priority to Excel, Power Point required. Proficiency in use of graphic/arts/design, data visualization.
- Proven ability to work effectively with supervision, learn and report.
- Excellent relationship-building, interpersonal skills and ability to represent DRC.

- Contract length: 3 months probation period with the possibility of extension subject to funding and performance

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for national staff.
