Lebanon’s deepening socio-economic crisis is having a disproportionate impact on vulnerable women and women-led households. With nearly 44 percent of the population now living in poverty (World Bank, 2024), the country’s public health system is buckling under pressure.
According to UNFPA, more than 40 primary healthcare centres and several hospitals have closed since late 2023, leaving many women without basic maternal or reproductive care (UNFPA Lebanon, 2025). Meanwhile, Lebanon’s mental health crisis is stretching far beyond the capacity of existing services (MHPSS Collaborative, Mar 2025). Against this backdrop, grassroots initiatives providing healthcare, mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), and shelter have become essential lifelines for women in need of care, stability, and dignity.
Your help can make a difference in protecting their health, safety, and dignity.
That’s why Stouh Beirut is opening Femmes du Soleil, a women’s shelter center in Dhour El Choueir, Lebanon. The building is currently under renovation thanks to funding secured from a private donor. In an area with no nearby hospital, the shelter will offer vital medical aid to women in need.
Four Lebanesediaspora organizations from France, Germany, and Australia have come together to support the opening of the clinic in the women’s center.
What will this campaign fund?
A fully equipped gynecological consultation wing, providing free and gender sensitive care from volunteer doctors
A shelter hub for women in crisis, including orphaned girls, widowed women, and those living in extreme social and economic hardship
This campaign fills a huge gap in women's health support in Lebanon. The women's shelter centre in Dhour El Choueir will be its first of its kind in Lebanon, providing much needed gynecological and mental health services for women in need.

Why should you donate?
Stouh Beirut already has the space. Renovations are underway. The medical team is ready. What is missing is the funding to finish, buy medical equipment, and open the clinic.
This campaign is about making that possible together. Your support goes directly to a trusted local partner, and it fills a critical gap in care and protection for women who have nowhere else to turn.
